I had no problems with Go Bank until today. I received a notification that my account was -$479.

I wondered how could this be since there are no overdrafts or fees like this company proudly advertises. I checked the account and there was a $400+ charge from Homedepot.com. I was confused and angry because 1) I did not authorize such a charge 2) I did not make any purchases with Home Depot 3) Go Bank allowed this charge to go through even though there was insufficient funds for this account. I immediately contacted a customer service supervisor and was told I needed to dispute the charge with the merchant since the transaction had already gone through and I need to wait 10-14 days to "possibly" get my money back.

I had my payroll direct deposit pending to come through today also and explained that this fraudulent charge is going to prevent me from being able to pay my rent because my deposit is going to be short. The rep insisted I contact the merchant. I contacted Home Depot and was told a charge was made on my card for 2 indoor security cameras and that the order could not be cancelled because it had already been delivered. I called Go Bank again asking for a plausible explanation for why this charge went through when there were no funds available, I was told that normally they do not allow charges to go through if there are insufficient funds but that a merchant can "force" a transaction through anyway.

I was given a dispute number and was told to download a print a dispute form from the website and to email it to Go Bank but that I still need to wait 10-14 days to recover my money. She also informed me that the merchant can continue to charge me if I do not order a new card and report this one as fraudulent.

I withdrew the remainder of my funds and reported said card. I am going to deal with a more reputable bank going forward because their entire process and explanation for allowing a charge to go through even when there is no money available and after a customer calls to report fraudulent activity are unacceptable.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

GoBank Pros: Getting direct deposit on tuesdays.

GoBank Cons: Money magically disappers from account, Do not protect the customer, Allow fraudulent purchases, Do not alert the customer when there is suspicious activity.
